The Galia Lahav fashion house was founded in 1984 in Tel Aviv by designer Galia Lahav, born in Belarus and emigrated to Israel in 1957. At thirty-two she left her career as an arts and crafts teacher to pursue her dream of building a fashion house. What began as a studio for handmade ivory lace appliques grew into an international couture house.
In January 2017, Galia Lahav became the first Israeli brand to be accepted into the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture and to present at Paris Fashion Week. The brand is known for pioneering daringly low backs, sheer fabrics, and seductive silhouettes in bridal couture. It is now present at more than seventy retailers worldwide.
